Welcome to Crestwood

Crestwood
is a small city whose residents take pride in the city's warmth and residential comfort. Located just southwest of Webster Groves and Kirkwood's Westborough Country Club, the city benefits from a convenient and beautiful location in south St. Louis County. Crestwood's low property taxes, efficient municipal services, and exemplary schools make this municipality an ideal place to live. Residents have access to breathtaking parklands and public amenities, as the local government displays a deep commitment to preserving a high quality of life in the community.

The area comprising present-day Crestwood was claimed by the French in 1682 as part of their Louisiana Territory. Control was then passed to the Spanish, who gave land grants to European settlers. Of all the groups to settle in the region, German brewers left the most lasting mark. The Anheuser and Busch families settled in the region and constructed homesteads. The community was further developed and popularized by August Busch I, who paid to construct a network of roads in the city. The area's development was achieved in this way until 1947 when a group of citizens petitioned for the incorporation of Crestwood as a village. Just two years later, Crestwood was incorporated as a city. Today, Crestwood is thriving. Comfortable residential properties cover its scenic landscape and the Crestwood-Sunset Hills Chamber of Commerce ensures that the city is supported by a strong retail sector and commercial tax base.

Crestwood homes sell for a median price of around $397,100. Homes are available at a wide variety of price ranges, but housing remains affordable. Home values are on the rise in the local market. The city is predominantly residential, with an emphasis on detached, single-family homes. Most homes date back to the 1960s. Subdivisions such as Glenwood Place and Grant's Farm Trails boast manicured properties and towering homes. Other neighborhood streets are lined with comfortable ranch homes and traditional architecture. Whichever neighborhoods that these homes occupy, they are sure to be near any of Crestwood's 120 acres of parkland and benefit from idyllic surroundings.

Throughout Crestwood's storied history, it has been home to prominent residents and their palatial estates. Grant's Farm is just one example of the grandeur on display. An estate constructed for President Ulysses S. Grant and has also served as the Busch family home is now open to the public. Grant Farm's Deer Park, serving as a zoo exhibit, is home to African Zebra and other exotic animals. Visitors can also take tours of the historic estate and sample local fare at food trucks that often stop on the premises. Nearby the farm, and adjacent to the bike paths of Grant's Trail, is the Sappington House Historical Site. Tours of the Sappington House give visitors a glimpse of grand, federal architecture. A surrounding 2.5 acre park, The Barn restaurant, and the Library of Americana complete the visitor experience. Crestwood's 85-acre Whitecliff Park includes a community center, athletic complex, and an aquatic center equipped with a lazy river, climbing wall, and water slide.

Students in Crestwood are served by the Lindbergh, Affton, and Webster Groves school districts. All districts are highly rated by the Missouri Department of Education. Parents can rest assured that their children are in good hands. Those looking for private and faith-based options will be delighted by Cor Jesu Academy and Lutheran High School South, both exemplary schools.
