The municipality was incorporated on September 1, 1995, and led by residents who wished to control their communities and free the previously unincorporated area from controlling county bureaucracies. Effective planning and community organization ensured that Wildwood quickly began to thrive. Responsive public services and an economic planning initiative have created a city that is well-organized, efficient, and productive. Wildwood has partnered with the West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce to provide growth and networking opportunities for more than 270 businesses.
